It is recommended that all wooden doors have:
A British Standard 5 level mortice lock or a British Standard locking device to comply with insurance regulations.
Ideally there needs to be an extra lock lower down (at ankle level) to prevent the door from being forced (kicked in)
It is recommended that all PVCu doors
are fitted with an ABS lock (often referred to as anti-snap). Burglars now know how to gain entry to your home simply by ‘snapping’ the lock, there are even videos on line showing them how to do this. Avocet solved the problem with the ABS lock. If/when they are snapped the cam clamps down thus stopping any intruder from entering your home. Absolute Locks are happy to recommend and fit ABS locks.
Snap Secure Locks
Snap Secure Technology – Cam locks against the internal locked side of the cylinder making the cylinder impervious to manual attack after snapping.
